MARY LOU MIRAU, 93, of Crosby, died at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby on April 8, 2023.  She was born on May 5, 1929 in Crosby to Louis and Isabel (Brown) Raymond.  She was a retired Clerk for the city of Deerwood.  She played organ for several area churches.  She attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Robert; son, James Mirau; brother, Joe Raymond and a grandson.

John Bernard Johnson Obit

JOHN BERNARD JOHNSON, 82, of Crosby died on Oct. 20, 2022 at his home.   He was born in Crosby on July 15, 1940 to Arthur B. and Helen (Krans) Johnson.  John graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1958, where he was a member of the Crosby-Ironton basketball team.  He served in the U.S. Navy.  He entered at the Great Lakes Trainer Center, receiving a medical discharge in September of 1958.  He spent most of his life in construction, and was a member of the 49er’s Union until his retirement.

Vilma Gloria Gorfin Obit

VILMA GLORIA GORFIN, 95, of Crosby, died on May 19, 2023 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  She was born on May 28, 1927 in Ironton to Marko and Mary Krmpotich.  Vilma married William “Don” Gorfin on Oct. 8, 1948 in Webster, SD.  Don and Vilma moved many times from the West Coast to Crosby.  They found their peace on Serpent Lake on Peterson Creek Drive.   Preceding Vilma in death are her parents; husband Don and sister Goldie Harthun. Vilma is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Krumrei of Las Vegas, NV.

Burt 'Burturde' Leslie Tasche Obit

BURT 'BURTURDE LESLIE TASCHE, 59, died in November due to health complications. He lived in Minnesota his whole life, born in Watertown  to Patricia and Roy Tasche and father of two daughters in Brainerd where he spent the remainder of his life. He was formally educated in horticulture with a focus on landscape design and architecture. He dedicated his life to his craft and touched many people along the way, even going as far as to inspire one of his daughters to go into horticulture as well.

MARK ANTHONY VUKELICH, 60, died surrounded by loved ones in Waco, TX on Jan. 26, 2023. He was loved by family and friends for his wit and knowledge, his unending patience and listening, his stories and laughs and his supportiveness of everyone around him. He is survived by his sons, Robert and Steven; his father and step-mother, George “Sonny” and Susie; his sisters, Mary ”Sunny Jo” and Sarajean and step-siblings, Bill, Brian and Tanya. A Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m.

Robert "Bob" Rodenborn Obit

ROBERT "BOB" RODENBORN left this world suddenly on Monday, May 15, 2023 at age 81. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born to Dolores and Richard Rodenborn on Jan. 30, 1942. Bob was drafted into the army where he was a Paratrooper in many places amongst the U.S. Bob met the love of his life, Renee, across the street from him. Bob and Renee married on Sept. 10, 1966 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. They lived in Brooklyn Park until 1999. They also owned a second home in Aitkin and retired there.

Annette Ruth (Auckland) Ulrich Obit

ANNETTE RUTH ULRICH (née Buckland), 97 of Duluth, died Saturday, May 13, in daughter Kathryn’s home, with family by her side. Annette was born Sept. 17, 1925, at home in Carey, OH to Graham and Mildred (née Houghtel) Buckland. After graduating from Maumee Valley Hospital in 1946, Annette worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT, as a surgical nurse in Findlay, OH, and as a staff nurse at Ohio State University. She paused her career in 1953 to focus on caring for her expanding family. In 1956, the family relocated to Crosby, MN.

LOIS ANN LUECK, 92, died peacefully at the Aicota Nursing Home on Feb. 27, 2023. She was born in Bain on Feb. 3, 1931 to Walter and Julia (Henke) Grulke. She attended grade school in Swatara and then transferred to Aitkin where she graduated high school. She married Wilbur Lueck on Nov. 14, 1948 in Aitkin and they made their home on Placid Lake in Deerwood. She enjoyed traveling and traveled with her husband, building and remodeling Missouri Lutheran churches and colleges for Laborers for Christ.

James "Jim" M. Engle Obit

JAMES "LITTLE JIMMY" M. ENGLE, 78, of Outing, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Mother of Mercy Care Center in Albany. He was born March 26, 1945 in Minneapolis to Martin and Shirley (Kleppe) Engle. He grew up in Richfield, graduating from Richfield High School with the class of 1963. He moved to Annandale and Mound while his kids were in school, and for the past 20 years has resided in Outing. He started out working at Ostrom Sporting Goods in Minneapolis and at the Burnsville Sport Center, before starting his own company, Westside Yamaha, in Navarre.

THEODORE DAVID ALVORD, 74, of Baxter, died on May 10, 2023 at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. A Memorial Gathering is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
