Betty A. Platisha Obit

BETTY A. PLATISHA, 93, of Trommald, died on Feb. 20, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on April 27, 1926 in Staples to Louis and Ann (Mudek) Johnson.  She married Mike Platisha on Feb. 15, 1947 in Duluth.  She retired in 1975 from FW Woolworth Co., Duluth with 28 years of service.  After she retired in 1975 she and her husband  moved to Tommald.
She was the City Clerk/ Treasurer and council member for Trommald, a Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Board Member for 20 years; a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and past president of the Council of Catholic Women, St. Joseph’s Catholic Society of Foresters and St. Mary’s Court 854. She helped start pasties making as a fund-raiser for the church; She is a past president of the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary Unit #443, Ironton.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Mike in 1989; one brother, Louis, Jr. and three sisters, Dorothy, Louise and Diann.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary Johnson of Crosby; two sisters, Janet Chambers of Trommald and Paulette and Don Winberg of Duluth and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Staples area.
A Memorial Mass will be held will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Hospice Program, Crosby.  
Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
