Louise Kolstad Obit

It is with great sadness that the family of Louise Eleanor (Lamb) Kolstad announces the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend on Aug. 22, 2019. She died at her home peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
Louise will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert and her children, Kirsten (Brent) Mazar, Kent (Rachel), and KC (Rachel). Louise will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Karrina, Luke, Zachary, Christina, Anne Louise, Eleanor, and Anna. And by her sisters, June, Diane, Esther, Josephine, and Christine.
Louise is preceded in death by her mother Eleanor and her father Reed and also by her sisters, Marlene, Carol, and Phyllis and her brother Jim.
Louise graduated from St. Catherine’s University with a degree in social work and later in life obtained a masters degree in psychology from St. Cloud State University. Louise’s kind and compassionate spirit led her into a career in social work, so that she could help people live better lives.
While a social worker in Cass Lake, she met her husband Robert, who was a teacher in the area. They got married, travelled the world, had three children, had many trials and tribulations but deeply loved each other for over 52 years. In Louise’s later years Robert lovingly and delicately cared for her at their house until her passing.
She was a vibrant woman who enjoyed cooking and hosting dinner parties with friends and families. She enjoyed baking cookies with her children and grandchildren, especially around Christmas time. She enjoyed camping, skiing, canoeing and being outside.  Louise will always be remembered for her infectious smile and kind and compassionate spirit.
A Memorial Mass in memory of Louise will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 35208 Co unty Road 37, Crosslake. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Louise Kolstad to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home of Crosby.
