Northland Arboretum Scarecrow Contest

As part of this year’s festive Fall events, the Northland Arboretum is holding a Scarecrow Contest for individuals, families, groups, and businesses to highlight their creativity during October.

Spooky, comical, or traditional scarecrow creations will be displayed near the Arboretum’s Visitor Center all month long and will have a chance to win some amazing prizes. Scarecrows must be homemade and family-friendly and should be designed in a way that can hold up to Minnesota’s weather. Entrants must provide materials, but the Arb will provide a secure post to build the design around. The sillier, the better! Rules and registration forms can be found on the Northland Arboretum’s website. Ribbons will be placed on the winning scarecrows on Oct. 19 and they will remain on display to allow the public a chance to view the creativity during the annual Haunted Trail and Trunk-or-Treat events.

Entries will be judged for creativity and originality. The winner of the most creative scarecrow will receive an annual membership to the Northland Arboretum. Winners of the scariest and funniest scarecrows will receive a $25 movie theatre gift card.

The 20th Annual Arboretum Haunted Trail will take place at the Arboretum Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 20 to 22, and Trunk-or-Treat is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29.
