RAYMOND L. SHANDLE OBIT

RAYMOND "RAY" L. SHANKLE, 75, of Deerwood, died on April 20, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on Feb. 16, 1945 in Knife Falls to Oscar and Emma (White) Shankle.  Ray grew up in Deerwood and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1962. After graduation he left Deerwood, returning in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ray married Rita Kuchel on Nov. 23, 1980 in Plymouth, IN. He was an independent over the road truck driver, running contracts in the United States and Canada with 42 years of service.
Preceding Ray in death are his parents; two brothers, Carl and Murvin Shankle; one sister, Doris Wood and a great-great grandson, Ethan Cottrell.
Ray is survived by his wife Rita; two sons, Todd (Kendra Peterson) Kline of Argos, IN and Ray Jr. (Linda Busa) Shankle Wooddale, IL; two daughters, April (Tim) Richardson of St. Cloud and Leslie Shankle of Melrose Park, IL; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
No services are being held at this time.  A Memorial Gathering will be held in the summer.
