Richard "Dick" Walter Heineman Obit

RICHARD "DICK" WALTER HEINEMAN, 85, died July 5, 2023 after a gradual decline in health at the GMC Extended Care in Glendive, MT. He was born in Crosby on Aug. 24, 1937 to Walter and Alice (Mitchum) Heineman.
He and his family moved to Montana in the mid 1960s, first to Glasgow then to Wibaux, where he resided until his death. He coached girls’ softball. He loved hunting elk and moose with friends and playing pinochle. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling, but would not travel by airplane. He didn’t trust the pilot as the pilot might have a bad day. He was fond of carpentry and tried to be an electrician, but always ended up with the professional. He was a perfectionist in painting. He had a good sense of humor.
He was the county attorney and the city attorney at different times and the attorney for Goldenwest Cooperative for a number of years. He was active in the community and served as a volunteer fireman. He was on the Board of Directors for the District II Alcohol and Drug Program, a member of the Board of Appeals, Wibaux Chamber of Commerce, Wibaux Museum Board, Glendive Masonic Lodge #31 and Shriner for Eastern Montana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Joyce Ferrari of Crosby, Sharon Anderson of San Diego, CA and brother Lenny Heineman of Cambridge. He lost contact with his sister, Linda Frank of Chicago, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Teresita “Tess” (Ato) Heineman whom he married in Wibaux, MT on May 9, 1983. He is also survived by four children, their spouses, his grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.
