Allen William Draves Obit

ALLEN WILLIAM DRAVES, 82, of Maple Grove, formerly from St. Anthony Village, died May 18, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was husband to Sandee and they shared 62+ years of marriage. Born in Crosby on Jan. 25, 1942 to Emil and Anna Draves, he graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School and went on to Dunwoody where he graduated in electrical drafting. In 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandee Johnson and they had two children. He worked as a draftsman until retirement. He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing spending time at his deer camp, coaching his kids in many sports and making his yard the best in the neighborhood. He also loved to cheer on his grandchildren at their activities. He was their number one fan. He was quite the basketball player in his day and continued to play basketball and softball as he got older. Age never slowed him down but his heart did. Preceding him in death are his parents, three sisters, four brothers and a grandson. He is survived by his wife Sandee, son and daughter-in-law Brad and Jen of Maple Grove; daughter and son-in-law Teri and Chris Fredrick of Buffalo and five grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 30 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Havenwood of Buffalo, 150 Division Street East in Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and strokes.
