ELIZABETH MARY "BETSY" JAHR-LANG, peacefully passed to heaven on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 at the age of 90 years. She was born Sept. 05, 1934 in St. Paul to Lily (Harris) and Orlando Jahr. She graduated from the Harding High School in 1952 and married Donald Lang on Aug 29, 1953. They bought their first home in 1961 in Oakdale,  where they lived 40 years and raised four children. She worked at 3M Company for 25 years before retiring to Island Lake.

JOAN RIOJAS, 82, formerly of Ironton passed away Sept. 28, 2024, in Burlington, NC. She was born to Charles and Florence Rhodes on Dec. 15, 1942 in Crosby. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Crosby, worked at the Ironton Post Office and many other jobs before her retirement. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband John Riojas, nephew Dan Andrews and special friend Tom Biever. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Margie Riojas of Burlington, NC; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. No services are being held.

KEVIN JAY WENDORFF, 62, of Crosby, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1980. His employment began as a cook at various restaurants, then at Temroc Metals and H & F Manufacturing as a machinist. He explored the commercial trucking industry which became his passion and turned into a lifetime career as an over-the-road truck driver. His last employer was J.R. Schugel of New Ulm. His faith in the Lord was strong and he enjoyed reading his Bible on and off the road.

RICHARD CHARLES "CHARLIE" MILLS, 86, of Crosby, passed away on Sept. 28, 2024 at home with Carol and Henry by his side. He was born on June 24, 1937 in Boone, IA to Charles and Murrel (Gratton) Mills. He married Carol Schellin on Aug. 1, 1970 in Aitkin.  He was a retired custodian for the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby with 25 years of service.   He was a member of the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood and the Aitkin American Legion Post #86.   Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Robert Mills.

ALBERT "HUTS" CLIFFORD FORT, 93, of Deerwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional  Care Center in Crosby.   Born in Crosby on Oct. 28, 1930, the son of Lloyd and Edna (Stofferahn), Albert was raised in Crosby, Minnesota. After graduating from Crosby-Ironton High School, Albert served in the Army as a platoon Sergeant in the Korean War and then twelve years in the Minnesota National Guard Reserve as First Lieutenant.  He received the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Campaign Star and the United Nations Service Medal.

WANITA BLANCH HUGHES, 93, of Pine River, died on Sept. 18, 2024 at her home.  She was born on Sept. 20, 1930 in Summum, IL to Lindel and Margaret (Thompson) Winter.  She  was a life long homemaker and was an exceptional cook. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Arlo Hughes; one son, David Hughes and one sister, Opal Lesnau. She is survived by her daughter, Sandie Brown of Emily; one brother, William (Lamelle “Eva”) Winter of Mount Pleasant, TX; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. No services are being held.

STANLEY W. KANGAS, 89, of Crosby. formerly of Deerwood, died on Sept. 18, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  He was born on April 10, 1935 in Brainerd to Stanley E. and Helen (Bodle) Kangas.   He was a retired Potlatch employee with 36 years of service and was a former president of its union. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Nancy in 2011 and one brother, John Kangas.

TYLER SCOTT MARTIN ANDERSON, 43, passed away peacefully at his home in Roberts, ID, on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Tyler was born on Jan. 26, 1981, to Scott and Karen Anderson in Anoka. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2005 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2007, Tyler moved to Jackson, WY driven by his love for the outdoors. The majestic Teton Mountains called to him, where he became an avid backcountry skier. His love for nature fueled his passion for camping, elk hunting, white-water rafting and mountain biking.

THERESA M. PARENT, 86, of Deerwood and Schroeder, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Parent and spouse Gerald Parent,  her parents, brothers Jim and Ed Altrichter and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Gerry Altrichter, her children and their spouses Jeanne and Mark Tobolaski, Ricky and Darla Parent, Jerelyn Parent and Robert Parent,  14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

ALISHA JO ELIZABETH PETERSON, 30, of Ironton died on July 24, 2024. She was born in Rochester on Sept. 19, 1993.  She was employed as a press break operator at Clow Stamping in Merrifield; a former employee of the Holiday Gas Station in Crosby and Subway in both Crosby and Brainerd. She is survived by her mother, Teresa Peterson of Ironton and her father, Joseph Palmer of Minneapolis; one brother, Kobly Palmer of Minneapolis; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ashley and Nathan Plummer of San Angelo, TX and Amber and Stefan Anderson-Hagery of Grantsburg, WI and two nieces.
