CRMC Care Center, Heartwood closed to visitors
With reports Minnesotans have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), Cuyuna Regional Medical Center is closing its Care Center and Heartwood Senior Living Community to visitors to ensure those who live and work there remain safe and healthy. All community events and classes scheduled at Heartwood have been cancelled indefinitely.
At this time, no one in the facilities has been diagnosed with COVID-19. As a caution, CRMC is following guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to limit visitors except for special circumstances, such as end-of-life, when a visitor is essential for a resident’s emotional well-being and care. Such visits will be limited to minimize exposure beyond the family member. A simple wellness screening of symptoms will be conducted.
CRMC’s hospital visitors are limited to immediate family only and children should not visit. In certain instances, visitors may be screened or required to wear a mask, gown or gloves the entire time in the facility. Please consider communicating with loved ones over the phone, video chat, e-mail or social media.
“Protecting your health and safety is our top priority and we are doing everything we can to prevent this virus from entering our community,” said CEO Kyle Bauer, adding that staff are staying up-to-date with CDC recommendations and are in close contact with and following the guidance of local and state health departments.
CRMC is practicing standard protocols and procedures to prevent or limit the spread of infectious disease in its facilities as well as maintain staffing and supplies. For those who must enter the facility, masks, tissues and antibiotic hand gel is available at all entrances.
