Crosby anneses land; fixes library roof

In what is becoming more and more frequent, the Crosby City Council met in a “pop-up” council meeting Friday morning, July 17. Present were Mayor Bob Novak and council members Robyn Wolfe, Ron Prushek and Diane Cash. There were only two items on the agenda.
City Attorney Joe Langel presented a resolution to annex the approximately 13 acres in Deerwood Township formerly known as Hallett House Bed and Breakfast. The resolution passed unanimously. The parent company of SuperOne Foods in Crosby has announced it's intention to build a new grocery store on that location.
 The second order of business was the approval of Rice Lake Construction's bid of $388,300 to repair the roof of the Jessie F. Hallett  Memorial Library, the roof of which collapsed in early 2020 from the weight of the accumulated snow. Because it has taken so long to let the bid, for which Rice Lake Construction was the only bidder, there has been additional damage due to water run-off. Insurance adjusters and Rice Lake Construction will be trying to secure the building against additional damage.
