Donald Henry Hartung Obit

DONALD HENRY HARTUNG, 95, of Crosby, passed away on May 11, 2025, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on Oct. 20, 1929 in Crosby to Richard and Anna (Moritz) Hartung.  He was united in marriage to Mary Moore on Dec. 11, 1948 in Crosby. He mined on the Cuyuna Range for 24 years with Zontelli Brothers and Pittsburgh Pacific. He retired for the City of Crosby Water Department with 22 years’ of service. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. He is survived by his daughters, Janice Hartung of Phoenix, AZ, Donna Hartung of Ironton and Gayle Hartung of Plant City, FL; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mary Jo Shire; two brothers, Adam and Floyd Hartung; and four sisters, Lelia Hartung OSB, Vera Hartung, Leona Hartung and an infant. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 16 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
