Gwendolyn M. Hillerud Obit

GWENDOLYN M. HILLERUD died July 9, 2021. She was born in Artesian, SD on Aug. 25, 1930 to Jack and Margaret Mork. After high school she earned her teaching degree and her pilot’s license. She married Robert Hillerud in 1953. They went on to have three children. They traveled the world while he served in the Air Force. They retired in Fort Walton Beach, FL but always returned to Crosby in the summer. Her passions included cooking, cleaning, entertaining, taking care of her family and whistling many different tunes. She was strong, inspirational and had the “patience of a saint”. Throught her life she formed many different friendships that lasted her lifetime. She will be loved forever and missed and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lois Emerson and Jackie Sisson; her son Steven Hillerud and daughter-in-law Paula Hillerud and her husband, Robert. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Wade Shankle of Crosby and Joan and Allen Schweinberg  of Oviedo, FL; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be no memorial service.
