Helicopter crash at Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport kills two
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office would like to share the following press releases from North Memorial Health and the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport:
From North Memorial Health:
On Friday, June 28 at approximately 1 a.m. a North Memorial Health helicopter crashed at the Brainerd airport. Three North Memorial Health crew members were on board. No patients were being transported at the time of the crash. The pilot and the nurse died at the scene. The third crew member was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.
The FAA and NTSB have been notified, and we will fully cooperate with both agencies during their investigation of the incident. North Memorial Health is grateful for the expertise and efforts of the first responders who came to the accident scene including the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Brainerd Police and Fire Departments and Baxter Police Department.

Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport emergency partners responded to an accident on the airport at approximately 1 a.m. involving a medical helicopter with a crew of three. Known reports indicate two are dead with one surviving at the scene and transported to further medical care. The airport remains operational during this accident and teams from Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are enroute to perform their investigations.
