Herbert Herrly Obit

HERBERT "HERB" W. HERRLY, 81, of Tiffin IA, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Bird House: Hospice Home of Johnson County.
He was born on June 20, 1939 in Tamarack, the son of Herbert A. and Jackie (Dworshak) Herrly. In 1957, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was then employed as the Sales and Marketing Manager at Northwest Swissmatic in Minneapolis for over 30 years.  Herb married Judith Goebel on Dec. 26, 1987 in Minneapolis. Herb was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, boater, card player, sports enthusiast, and a member of the American Legion. Herb and Judy also enjoyed many travel adventures around the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Jackie Herrly; his brothers Ralph, Wayne, and Larry Herrly; sisters-in-law Judy Herrly and Tracy Herrly; brother-in-law James Luhrs; and grandson Daniel Drews.
He is survived by his wife Judith; children and spouses David and Gayle Herrly of Rush City; Lisa Smith of Albuquerque, NM; Ron Jahnke of North Liberty, IA; Daniel “Bud” and Mary Jane Jahnke of Solon, IA; and Jane and Thomas Drews of Iowa City, IA; 17 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and spouses Paula Herrly of Carlos; Patricia Luhrs of Des Moines, IA and Cyndy and Clint Shoap of Sun Lakes, AZ; and numerous extended family and friends.
Private family funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial with Military Honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Please join the family at Club 76 American Legion, North Liberty, IA following the service for a time to celebrate Herb.
