James "Jim" Edward Lundgren Obit

JAMES "JIM" EDWARD LUNDGREN, 63, of Ironton, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on July 1, 2023. Jim was born on July 12, 1959, to Harold (Skip) and JoAnne (Moore) Lundgren in Aitkin.
Jim grew up in Babbitt. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1978. Jim has a passion for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycles and 4- wheeling. He loved the outdoors and nature and was an Eagle Scout when he was younger. Later he moved to Crosby-Ironton where he met his second wife. Jim married Shelley (Monson) Chaltron on Feb. 22, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV, but they shared 30 years together. Jim worked at Acrotech Midwest in Riverton, and later Brainerd ISD #181 school district in the custodial department.
Jim was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2019. Many trips were made to Mayo Clinic, with many treatments. He was hopeful and stayed positive there would be a cure. He and Shelley did all the things they loved for as long as he could. Many fun trips were made to Lake of the Woods, Red Lake, Winnebagosh and Basswood Lake. Jim loved camping and often took the grandkids when they were younger on outdoor excursions. Jim was a character and a jokester. He tried to find humor, even when going through chemotherapy. He and Shelley became members of Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd. His faith carried him through on his journey with cancer.
