Jennifer Joyce (Olander) Bock Obit

JENNIFER JOYCE (OLANDER) BOCK, 79, of Bemidji,  died at her home on July 28, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Crosby. She had a twin sister Janette that was born minutes after Jennifer but sadly only survived for two days. She grew up living on Perry Lake in rural Crosby and loved to tell stories of her adventures on the lake. She loved the water and fishing. She married Donald A. Bock on Aug. 4, 1960, and they made their home in Bemidji where they raised five sons. She loved to sew, play the piano, and dance. She loved to bake and was famous in the family for her breads, rolls, and doughnuts. She also enjoyed fishing and camping on Rainy and Kabetogama Lakes every summer. She also loved gardening and canning. At age 23 she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and spent most of her life crippled and in pain. But she never complained and was a wonderful mother to her boys. She loved visiting friends and family and seeing her grandkids. She always had the biggest smile on her face when the grandkids came over. When her sons were grown and started their own lives, she worked at Herberger's in Bemidji for many years as a sales consultant.   She was preceded in death by two sons, Shayne M. and Douglas D. Bock; her parents Olaf and Elda Olander; Brothers: Merle, Frank, Gary, and Chris; sisters Phillis, Mary and Janette. She is survived by her husband, Donald; Sons: Steven (Christine) Bock of Cimmaron, KS; Darren (Marie) Bock of Bemidji; Nathan (Shauna) Bock of Mounds View; Daughter-in-law Debra Bock of Bemidji; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Turtle Lake Township Cemetery in Bemidji.
