Joan Miller Obit

JOAN MILLER, 79, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Oct. 29, 2022.  She was born Jan. 9, 1943, in Bremerton, WA to Charlie and Yvonne Mitchell. She spent her childhood living between Minnesota and Montana as her parents couldn’t agree on which state was better.  She married Loren Miller on Feb. 9, 1963. They spent their life together raising their three children in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Joan loved all animals and rescued several over the years. She enjoyed reading, camping, putting puzzles together, playing cards, and snuggling her cats Freddie and Essie. Most of all, Joan loved spending time with her family.  In their retirement Loren and Joan enjoyed wintering in their RV in Arizona and Texas, off-roading in their jeep, panning for gold and meeting new friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mona Mitchell and brother-in-law Frank Scott.     Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Loren and their three children: Dennis (Christy) Miller, Diane (Jim) Schuler and Sherri (Ryan) Skare; seven grandchildren: Alexis Clausen, Selena Miller, Cienna Miller, Rachel (Chris) Vizenor, Ryan Schuler, Kaylee (Zach) Posner and Jenna Skare and two great-grandchildren: Peyton and Brantley Vizenor; one brother Conrad Mitchell and one sister-in-law Doris Scott. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
