John "Jack" William Couture Obit

JOHN "JACK" WILLIAM COUTURE, 88, died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Crosby on June 27. He was born in Ironton on March 7, 1935 to Stanley and Marian (Krause) Couture. He married Juliann Thompson Sorum on May 19, 1968.
Jack was a high school band director in Pelican Rapids for 34 years before retiring in 1991. After retiring, Jack and Julie split their time between Deerwood and Mesa, AZ. He was a devoted husband to Julie and together they loved traveling the world. His family will remember him as a witty storyteller who was always willing to help others.
Preceding him in death are his parents, five siblings and sons Todd and Donald. He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters Nikki Sorum (Simon Foster) and Cindy Eldridge (Mike); grandchildren Marielle (Isaac), Sam (Madeline), Davis, Lucas, Julia and Lucia.  
A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Ringsaker Cemetery in Pelican Rapids.
Memorials in Jack’s name can be made to the Pelican Rapids School Fund or the University of Minnesota  Marching Band.
