Josephine "Jo" Blanich Obit

JOSEPHINE "JO" BLANICH, 96, of Crosby, passed away on Aug. 25, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on Oct. 5, 1927 in Helena, MT to Joseph and Katherine (O’Brien) Granby. She was a retired Administrative Accounting Clerk for Zontelli Brothers and Aitkin Iron Works. Being an avid birder, she traveled the United States, Canada and Costa Rica. She had over 1,000 bird species on her life list.  She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and a founding member of the Bee-Nay-She Bird Club. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Steve; three sisters, Ruth Schmidt, Margie Branch and Dorothy Lindgren; and three brothers, Donald Graton, Russell Granby and Kenneth Granby. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  In lieu of flowers, memorial project will be  funded through the Minnesota Ornithologists Union-Terry Savaloja Memorial Fund.
