Kenneth Albert Meyer Obit

KENNETH ALBERT MEYER departed this life on Feb. 24, 2024 in Crosby,  escorted by God's Holy angels. He was known by most in the community as Ken or Kenny. Ken was born April 12, 1935 to Albert and Emma (Knupple) Meyer in Crosby. Raised on a small farm near Crosby Beach he enjoyed hunting and fishing as a youth. He graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School class of 1953. Upon graduation he drove a mine truck and also served in the Army National Guard. Ken graduated from Dunwoody Trade School in Minneapolis where he learned the skills that would serve him in his career for the next thirty years. But as we all know, love trumps all. Kenny married the love of his life, Jeanne Jenkins, on May 11, 1957. For nearly 67 years they were a shining example of a loving and giving marriage, holding each other's hand to the very end. In 1958 Ken began working for IBM as a customer engineer. He faithfully stayed with IBM for over 30 years. He and Jeanne made brief stops in New York and California before settling down in Albuquerque, NM in 1962. They would make the 'Duke City" their home for the next 32 years. In 1994 Kenny and Jeanne decided it was time for a change. They packed up and returned to Crosby, moving onto the same property Kenny grew up on. The same property they blissfully call home today.   In their retirement years Ken and Jeanne loved to travel in their RV making yearly stops in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. They even found time to fit Hawaii and Germany into their itinerary. Kenny was loved and respected by all and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. His sense of humor and positive attitude in the face of adversity will live on as a shining example of Ken Meyer. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Emma Meyer. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Jeanne Meyer; three children: Steve (Janet) Meyer of Monte Vista, CO; Cindy (Steve) Chavez of Albuquerque, NM and Michael (Eileen) Meyer of Rio Rancho, NM; one brother, Bob (Marge) Meyer of Crosby; four grandchildren: Eric (Nicole) Meyer of Hillsboro, IL; Lesley (Jake) Smith of Broomfield, CO and Michaela Meyer and Ashleigh Meyer of Rio Rancho, NM; five great-grandchildren: Everly, Aaron and Luke Smith of Broomfield, CO and Anika and Alyce Cunningham of Hillsboro, IL. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
