Lester Lin VanHorn Obit

LESTER LIN VanHORN,  62, of Wolford Township,  Crosby, died in Craig, CO unexpectedly.  He was born in Crosby on July 11, 1959 to Lester and Emma (Bodle) VanHorn.   A man among men, Lester lived for his family and for his love of the hunt. He was an avid outdoorsman known for his German Shorthaired  Pointers. When he wasn’t chasing a dog over pheasants in the Dakotas, he was elk hunting in Colorado, mountain lion hunting in Wyoming or fishing any chance he could. Throughout his life he was a member of Muskies Inc, NAVHDA and most recently started Northern’s Inc fishing tournaments with his son. Lester’s ability to make people laugh and smile was contagious. If you didn’t hear the same joke from him three times and laugh harder each time, then you didn’t hear the joke. Lester’s real love was his wife Brenda, his world revolved around any and everything Brenda. His smile, laugh, jokes and love will be missed by all that knew him. Preceding Lester in death are his parents, four brothers, Warren, Loran, Jack and Arthur VanHorn and three sisters, Faye LaMar, Kay Krein and Carol Ann VanHorn. Lester is survived by his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Carrie (Nick) Hofmann of Crosby; one son, Lester (Lacy) VanHorn of Brainerd; four grandchildren, Ella Mae Everson, Lester James VanHorn, Aurora Lynn Addison and Tanner Michael Johnson; Patrick Jay his lifetime hunting protege; three brothers, Dale (Patty) VanHorn, Earl (Cincy) VanHorn and Mike (Judy) VanHorn all of Crosby; four sisters, Cis Ourham of Wenatchee, WA, Gail (Fred) McGuire of Lino Lakes, Esther (Steve) Reem of Palmer, AL and Carolyn Engholm of Brainerd;. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Mission Township Cemetery.  A visitation will be on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
