Lorraine Sturdevant Obit

LORRAINE STURDEVANT,  97 of Crosslake, died on Aug. 3, 2022 at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born on Aug. 18, 1924 in Tipperary, IA to Augustine and Marie (LeVeque) Deshayes.  Lorraine married Delmar “Bert” Sturdevant on Oct. 11, 1945. She owned the Emily Hardware with her husband from 1948 to 1987, selling to their daughter Denise. She was most proud of her welding job on the ships in Washington during WWII. This is where she met Bert. She loved flower gardening, being outside, bowling and scrapbooking.  But, most importantly, spending time with family, especially at the lake.  The last two-and-one-half years she spent at Golden Horizon in Crosslake where she enjoyed exercise class, crafts and visiting with her many new friends and lifetime friend, Alice. Lorraine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Greg Vukelich of Emily; her grandchildren, Trista and Josh Dennison of Baxter, Chelsea (Kirk) Sutton of Brainerd, Easton Hanson of Baxter, Kelly Sturdevant of Windsor Locks, CT, Bryant and Gia Sturdevant of Davenport, FL, Brooke Vukelich (Clint Hedlund) of Monticello and Greg Vukelich Jr. (Aleasha) of Buffalo; great-grandchildren, Matt Sturdevant, Abby Sturdevant, Alexis and Grace Dennison, Blake and Gage Hedlund and Mya Flanagan. Preceding Lorraine in death are her husband; son, Delmar “Bertie” Sturdevant Jr.; her parents; three sisters, Yvonne “Eva”, Mary and Simone; three brothers, Augustine, Eli and Arthur. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Greg and Denise’s home. Sharing of Memories will be at 4 p.m. If desired, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
