Nancy Beth Schmidt Obit

NANCY BETH SCHMIDT, 81, of Deerwood, formerly from Crystal, passed away Feb. 13, 2024 at Heartwood Memory Care in Crosby.   She was the daughter of Clifford and Vivian (Gunderson) James, born on May 5, 1942 in Roseau. She graduated from North High School in Minneapolis in 1960. On March 25, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gordon Schmidt. They lived in Crystal where she worked at Lifetouch, formerly National School Studios, as a picture packager for 31 years until she retired. They moved to Serpent Lake in 2000 and spent their winters in Gold Canyon, AZ. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, shopping, playing cards in Minnesota and Arizona, golfing, water aerobics and Rock Steady Boxing for people with Parkinson’s Disease. And she was a member of the Polka Lovers Klub of America in Arizona. She will forever be in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; parents Clifford and Vivian James of Crosby and sister and brother-in-law Carol and Bob  Seliger of Grand Rapids. She is survived by her children, Greg (Kellene) Schmidt, Fifty Lakes; Gary (Connie) Schmidt, Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Alexandr, McKenna (Alex) Schmidt-Karye, Gavin, Ryan and Blake. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood with an interment and  reception to follow. Gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.   Memorials preferred to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
