Paul Schliesman Obit

The Trustees of the Jessie F. Hallett and E.W. Hallett Trusts are sad to announce the death of Paul Schliesman, Hallett Trustee. During his professional career with US Bank, Mr. Schliesman worked with Jesse and E.W. Hallett to help set up the Hallett Trusts. Following his retirement from the bank, he served for several years as the Executive Director of the Trusts and subsequently became a Trustee. For the last twenty years, he has been the Chair of the Hallett Trusts.
Under his leadership, the Hallett Charitable Trusts have funded many Cuyuna Lakes community supported programs and projects including the Jessie Fern Hallett Library, The Hallett Community Center, Crosby-Ironton School Scholarships, and most recently Bike Trail projects.
Mr. Schliesman leaves behind his wife, Martha, of 63 years, five children, 19 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The Hallett Trustees will miss Mr. Schliesman’s leadership, friendship and enthusiasm for the Cuyuna Lakes Region.
Mr. Schliesman was known to many Cuyuna Lakes region civic, education, and non-profit leaders through regular visits by the Trustees to the area. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic precautions, the Trustees will hold virtual meetings in lieu of in-person visits.
