Raymond L. Shankle Obit

RAYMOND L. SHANKLE, age 75 of Deerwood died on April 20, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on February 16, 1945 in Knife Falls, MN to Oscar and Emma (White) Shankle.  Ray grew up in Deerwood and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1963. After graduation he left Deerwood, returning in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran.  Ray married Rita Kuchel on November 23, 1980 in Plymouth, Indiana. He was an independent over the road truck driver, running contracts in the United States and Canada with 42 years of service.
Ray is survived by his wife Rita; two sons, Todd (Kendra Peterson) Kline,  Argos, Indiana and Ray Jr. (Linda Busa) Shankle Wooddale, IL; two daughters, April (Tim) Richardson,  St. Cloud and Leslie Shankle, Melrose Park, IL; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ray in death are his parents; two brothers, Carl and Murvin Shankle; one sister, Doris Wood; and a great-great grandson, Ethan Cottrell.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post 557 in Deerwood.
