Richard "Rick" Brent Nolan Obit

RICHARD "RICK" BRENT NOLAN died on Sept. 12th, 2023 from his five- year battle with ALS. He was a long time resident of Deerwood.
He served in the Air Force from 1971 to 1975 as a survival specialist.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1949 in Moscow, ID to Ronald Nolan and Mary (Boyce) Nolan. He retired from Federal Service as a computer specialist. He worked at Fort Irwin, CA and the Veterans Hospital at Fort Snelling prior to federal service for the FAA as Air Traffic Controller in Cordova, AK where he met his loving wife Jean (Miner-Busby) of 33 years. After his retirement he worked for nine years at Northpoint Aviation in Brainerd and part-time for UPS.
Preceding Rick in death was his father Ronald Nolan, sister-in-law Marlene (Miner) Thompson and brother-in-law Ronald Miner.
He is survived by his mother Mary Nolan, his beloved wife Jean, step-daughter Ann Busby, three wonderful grandchildren, Cole (Caroline) Brix, Ivy Chisholm and Jaydn Assorson. A brother Robin (Judy) Nolan, two sisters Beth (Brian) Kelly and Ronny Jo (Stuart) MacPherson, three brother-in-laws John (Sue) Miner, Robert (Connie) Miner, Mike (Dena) Miner and one sister-in-law Joyce (Jerry) Sohns and many nieces and nephews, also his long time friends Bill and Yvonne Paterick from Bovil, ID.
Rick's dream was to be a Bush Pilot in Alaska which he fulfilled flying for Yute Air in Bethel, AK.
To honor Rick's wishes no services will be held. Interment will be at the Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis.
