Sharon Rae Skone Obit

SHARON RAE SKONE, 78, passed away peacefully in Ocala, FL on Oct. 21, 2022. Sharon was born to Dr. Allen Reuben and Elsie Julia Anderson on Oct. 21, 1944 in Belleville, IL. Sharon grew up in Crosby and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1962, then attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota. She married her high school sweetheart, James Brian Skone of Deerwood and celebrated 51 years of marriage. Sharon was a gifted artist and pursued many creative interests in her life. She was happiest when creating works of art for loved ones. She was accomplished in oil and watercolor, fine needlepoint and stained glass. Sharon commissioned several stained- glass windows which are featured at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Marietta, GA and Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. She was an avid reader and loved to  cook. Through the years, Sharon and her husband Brian spent a lot of time in their RV traveling across the U.S. and Canada. Preceding Sharon in death is her husband, James Brian Skone in 2016, her father, Allen Reuben Anderson in 2017 and her mother, Elsie Julia Anderson in 1999. Sharon is survived by her son Jay Brian Skone of Ocala, FL; daughter Shanna Rae (Brian) Smith of Atlanta, GA; daughter Sara Jane (Jason) McMahon of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Brogan and Peyton Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Max, Jack and Grace McMahon of Tulsa, OK and siblings, Joanne (Anderson) Smith of Crosby; Bonnie (Anderson) Fellerman of Maple Grove and Jerome Anderson of Crosby. Sharon was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL. A private family service is being held in Ocala, FL.
