Stanley W. Kangas Obit

STANLEY W. KANGAS, 89, of Crosby. formerly of Deerwood, died on Sept. 18, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  He was born on April 10, 1935 in Brainerd to Stanley E. and Helen (Bodle) Kangas.   He was a retired Potlatch employee with 36 years of service and was a former president of its union. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Nancy in 2011 and one brother, John Kangas. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Steve Gorecky of Deerwood, Amy and Larry Fabini of Two Harbors, Sue and Todd Sorensen of Brainerd and Wendy and John Crane of Bemidji; one brother, Kenneth “Kip” Kangas of Deerwood; two sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy Johnson of Crosby and Gwynne and Fred Bobich of Cohasset; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood from 2 to 4 p.m. with Sharing of Memories at 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Scandia Cemetery in Deerwood.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
