Vera Hamilton Ridlon Obit

VERA (HAMILTON) RIDLON, 89, died April 11, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was born Jan 22, 1934 in Crosby to Harold and Iva (Bickford) Hamilton. She attended Crosby-Ironton schools and later in life took continuing education classes to further her business skills. She married Florian Ridlon on Oct. 14, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Crosby. Together they had six children in Crosby, relocating to Hibbing in 1965 and settled in Buhl in 1973, all the while following the mining iundustry. She worked in sales at Calico Cat Fabric, managed the Domestic Department at Shopko, worked for International Harvester and in the circulation department of the Hibbing Tribune. After retiring, she and her husband spent their summers on Lake Vermilion and wintered in Mesa, AZ. She was a member of various women’s church groups and volunteered in the Hibbing Hospital Gift Shop. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lansin and Delores, Earl and Ruth, in-laws Jack and Helen Ridlon and brother-in-law Everett Ridlon. She is survived by her husband and children and spouses: Pam and Dave Galovich, Crosby; Marilyn and Chuck Ross, Sartell; John Ridlon, Brainerd; Tom and Luanne Ridlon, Hibbing; Cathy and Frank Malone, Champlin and Joann Ridlon, Harlingen, TX; sister Nancy (Scott Joseph) Hamilton, Mendota Heights, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Tammy Hamilton, Burnsville, sister-in-law Punky Ridlon, Hibbing; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial and burial will take place at a later date.
