Verla Mary Baker Obit

VERLA MARY BAKER, 82, died at her residence on Oct. 17, 2023 with family by her side. 
She was born on Sept. 27, 1941, in New Richmond, WI. She is the oldest of four children. She most recently lived in Coon Rapids and previously resided in Ramsey, Brainerd and Deerwood.
She loved to dance and connect with her dear friends on the dance floor. She was an avid polka enthusiast and often traveled throughout Minnesota and the midwest to spend time with friends and enjoy her beloved hobby. Verla was also a deeply spiritual woman and spent significant time with her Bible study group and volunteered regularly at her church.  She was also a Cub Scout den mother for many years.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially the grandkids at the kids’ events, the annual gathering at a lake home or at holiday festivities.  
She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Beatrice Wirth, her brother Eugene Wirth and ex-husbands Tom Baker and Richard Proch.
 She will be dearly missed by her children and spouses: Nanette and Mike  Fitch, Cinde and Jeff  Baker, Joel Baker, Yvette and David Christensen, Darryn and Julie Proch, Kyle and Lonnie Baker and Jason Baker. She will also be missed by her 15 grandkids, 15 great-grandkids, as well as her siblings Corinne Cardell, Nancy Wirth Cavegn and Allyn Wirth.
Even after her passing, she thought of others and generously donated her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest program for the advancement of medical care through research.
Her memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ramsey on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.  Visitation will start at 10 a.m. and there will be a luncheon to follow.
