Joan W. Rono obit

JOAN W. RONO, 83 of Perry Lake Township, died on May 30, 2019 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on Oct. 25, 1935 in Pueblo, CO to Relton and Gertrude (Kelsey) Cory.  She married Charles Rono Sr. on May 8, 1954 in Smithland, IA.  She was a retired Home Health Care Aid with Crow Wing County Human Service.  She was a member of the Emily United Methodist Church; Chapter 122 Order of Easter Star, Aitkin; and the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary, Ironton.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Charles, Sr. in 2014; and two brothers, James and Jerry Cory.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Mike Verdon of Dayton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles “Butch” Rono, Jr. and Larry and Mary Rono all of Crosby; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ronnie Ronfeldt of Oto, IA; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 at the Emily United Methodist Church.  Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily.  Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
