Barton W. Johnston Obit

BARTON W. JOHNSTON, 71, of Deerwood, died on Dec. 4, 2019 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on Sept. 30, 1948 in Laurelville, OH.  Bart married Penrose Middleton on July 9, 1971 in Escanaba, MI.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. For 25 years, Bart was the owner and operator of Carney Middleton Ford in Crosby.  He was a former board member of the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association, was past president of the Crosby Chamber of Commerce; former board member of the Cuyuna Country Club, past director of the First National Bank of Crosby and was a member of the Hombre Motorcycle Club.
Bart is survived by his wife Penney; two sons, Ted Johnston of Deerwood and David (Tanya) Johnston of Brainerd; one daughter, Heather (Vern) Erickson of Deerwood; two brothers, Robert Johnston of Buffalo and John Reynolds of Merrifield; two grandchildren, Megan Erickson and Maxwell Erickson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  A visitation will be at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.
