City of Crosby suspendsa ll non-essential services

At a Special Meeting of the Crosby City Council on Monday morning, March 16, the council voted to suspend all non-essential services.
City Administrator Lisa Sova said in a notice to the public: “In an effort to protect the public, limit exposure and prevent the spread of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Crosby Council has made the decision to suspend all city services with the exception of essential public safety services beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
“The following facilities are closed through March 29:
—City Hall
—Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library (Abbey House)
—Hallett Center of Crosby
—Crosby Department of Motor Vehicles
Police, fire and limited Public Works services will continue.
“This date may change as more informaiton becomes available. The city will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the public.
“The City of Crosby urges each and every individual to follow Center for Disease Control guidelines to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.”
While the city hall, library, community center and DMV offices are closed to the public, employees will continue to handle the city’s business. Payments will be received, bills will be paid, license plates/tabs will be issued and e-Books are available for check out.
Police, fire and Public Works will continue to provide essential services to the public. The police department will increase patrols at closed buildings such as the Hallett Center of Crosby, Crosby-Ironton High School and Cuyuna Range Elementary School for the duration of the closures.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 23. The council discussed holding a conference call for that meeting rather than meeting in person. Sova would be present at city hall for the call.
The council did not take other action but did recommend residents limit the size of gatherings to help eliminate the spread of the virus.
