Margaret "Peggy" Anderson Obit

MARGARET "PEGGY" M. ANDERSON, 93, passed away on Dec. 1, 2020, at her home in Medford surrounded by her family. She was born to George and Mary (Belmore) LeBlanc on Nov. 12, 1927, in Crosby. Peggy was married to Robert D. Anderson on Jan. 3, 1948 in Crosby.
Peggy attended Crosby-Ironton High School and was in the graduating class of 1946. She and Bob worked at the Crosby-Ironton Courier, owned by Elmer Anderson, and then owned and operated weekly newspapers in Royalton, Menomonee Falls and Sauk City, WI, and the Gulf Beach Journal in Florida. In 1975 they moved to Medford where Bob became publisher of The Star News through 1992.
Peggy raised 6 boys and 2 girls and was a home maker for many years, but also held full time jobs as a guard at the Badger Army Ammunition plant outside Sauk City, and production work at The Star News. She participated in community events with the paper, enjoyed needlework including knitting and crewel embroidery, was an avid reader and golfer into her 90's and volunteered with the Medford elementary school reading program. During retirement she and Bob spent 6 winters in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and traveled throughout the country and Hawaii, as well as Moscow, Mexico, and Great Britain.
Peggy is survived by her children Tom (Marcy) St. Louis, MO., Paul (Lisa) Muscoda, WI., James (Cindy) Sauk City, WI., Susan Anderson (Chris Ryan), Kealakekua, HI., Carol (Dan) Brost Medford, WI, Jeff (Karla) Silt, CO., Greg (Dawn) Lihue, HI, and daughter-in-law Sue Anderson, Madison, WI; 15 grandchildren, 19 great- grand children; brothers John of Virginia, and George of Crosby; and sister in law Betty Hanley, Ft. Myers, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob, son Timothy, and grandson LCpl Nicholas Anderson; brothers Earl, Basil, Jim, and Bob of Crosby, and Sister Bridgette of Palatine, IL.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
