Gerald Richard Carlson Obit

GERALD RICHARD CARLSON left this world for Heaven on Aug. 1, 2021 at his home in Ojai, CA. He was born to Mabel and Enfred Carlson on Feb. 22, 1936 in the Land Of 10,000 Lakes in the small town of Crosby. We’re certain his love for fishing started at a young age! Eventually Jerry made his way to the Pacific Ocean, settling in sunny Santa Barbara, CA with his wife and three young boys. A few years later, they bought their forever home in Ojai where they created decades of memories with three generations of Carlsons. Jerry will be missed and never forgotten by his loving family and friends who affectionately knew him as “Swede” and “Punky.” Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, his love for the Minnesota Vikings and his ability to tell a great fish story! A much loved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great- Grandfather, he will also be remembered as an incredibly hard worker and provider for his family, having worked as an Operator in Local 12 for 40 plus years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Darlene Carlson of Ojai, CA; his sons and their wives: Craig and Vivian, Cameron and Wendy, and Collin and Kathy; his sister, Karolyn Latterelle of Crosby;  grandchildren and their spouses: Amber, Brenna and Jonathan, Camille and Brian,   Dillon,   Garett,    Joshua, Cory, and Samantha. Great-Grandchildren: Roenne, Oliver, Jack, Matilda, Skylar and Everett. Jerry’s family will celebrate his life this September in, Ojai, CA, with a small intimate gathering in the home where he raised his family and took his last breath.
