Bernard L. Chapman Obit

BERNARD L. CHAPMAN, 100 of Crosby, died on Sept. 19, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on Sept. 25, 1920 in Marathon, IA to Ed and Pearl (Franksain) Chapman.  He married Roberta Baker on June 20, 1948 in Des Moines, IA.  He was a WWII Coast Guard veteran with assignment to the U.S. Navy serving in the North Atlantic. He was a retired actuary with Preferred Risk Life Insurance Co., and was a former owner of Roger Lake Resort in Emily.  After retirement they moved to their home at Roger Lake, in 2016 they moved to Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby. Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Nancy Ann Chapman; two brothers, Rueben and Jim Chapman and two sisters, Josephine Anderson and Marjorie Kaufman. He is survived by his wife, Bertie; one son, Scott (Sue Schmidtbauer) Chapman of New Brighton; two brothers, John Chapman of Laurens, IA and Earl Chapman of Albuquerque, NM; one sister and brother-in-law, Beth  and Ray Ford of Ruthven, IA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. No services are being held.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
