David O. Anderson Obit

DAVID O. ANDERSON, 83, of Brainerd, formerly of Glenwood, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Brainerd. He was born May 16, 1938, in Elmore, the son of Ole A. Anderson and Florence (Peterson) Anderson He attended and graduated from Elmore Public Schools and St. Olaf College in Northfield, Pomona Junior College in Pomona CA, California State Polytechnic University also in Pomona and the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. He was primarily self-employed in the building trades, working as a carpenter and architectural designer under his own name as a general contractor, or as Shoreview Construction. He also did long-distance trucking. He was united in marriage to Judith “Judy” M. Monson on Aug. 6, 1960 in Pomona, CA.  After Judy’s death in 2008, Dave met MaryLou Whirley and spent the rest of his life in the Brainerd area. He will be remembered for his steadfast love of family and the pride he had for them, for his unwavering faith, his sense of humor, his love of dancing, and his beautiful carpentry. He was a member of the Lions Club, various Chambers of Commerce in the cities where he operated his businesses and the Glenwood Lutheran Church Board. His hobbies included photography, model trains, a self-built hot rod, hunting, fishing, farming and woodworking, having been known for his beautifully handcrafted gifts to family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy in 2008; his parents; a younger sister, Susan, in childhood and a younger brother, Kim Anderson. He is survived by his significant other MaryLou Whirley of Brainerd, three daughters and son-in-law, Julie and Leo  Parvis of Chaska, Sallie Olson of Alexandria, and Sarah Anderson of Garrison, two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Merlin Ricklefs and Dr. Jan Meyer and Roger Jorgenson and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and run until the time of service. Interment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.
