LaVonne C. Pearson obit

LaVonne C. Pearson, 86, of Mora, passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2022 at Welia Hospital in Mora, with her husband by her side. She was born in Moose Lake to William and Lydia (Lampi) Ukura. She lived in Lawler, IA, Chicago, IL and then Crosby. After graduating from Crosby-Ironton High School she worked as an officer at a bank in Crosby. She met Jerry Pearson and they married on Dec. 3, 1960. They lived in Fargo, ND where LaVonne worked in the loan department of a bank. Before moving to Mora they resided in Duluth for a short time. To Jerry and LaVonne’s 61 year union, two children were born. LaVonne was a very active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, serving on circles, the council, Bell Choir and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also very active with the Hospital Auxiliary, serving as president twice. She was a Cub Scout den mother, involved in the band parents’ organization, the Girl Scouts and with the Relay for Life. LaVonne was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was instrumental in the establishment of a Job’s Daughter Chapter of the OES in Crosby. She was devoted to raising her family. She had many hobbies including reading, baking, outdoor activities and traveling. LaVonne was quick to laugh and was known for her caring and kindness. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister Beverly; sisters, Beatrice (Fred) Thompson and Lorraine (Pete) Midthun; and brother Bill Ukura. She is survived by her husband Jerry; daughter Lynn; son Scott; grandchildren, Danielle (Tyler) Edwards and Derek Pearson; great-granddaughter Harper Edwards; sisters-in-law, Joyce Kunze and Susan Ukura; plus many nephews and nieces.
