John Garen Greene Obit

JOHN GAREN GREENE, 85, of Rogers, formerly of Deerwood, died on July 31, 2023 in his home surrounded by family.  John was born to Clyde and Edna Greene on Aug. 27, 1937 and raised in Bigfork. On Aug. 17, 1963 John was united in marriage to Elaine Heather. John served in the Navy, worked as a truck driver, Minnesota State Trooper and in retirement loved being in the woods working as a logger. John enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, cutting wood and spending time with his three grandchildren. John’s relationship with Jesus was most important to him and he lived his faith by studying scripture daily and his many acts of generosity. John was looking forward to being home in Heaven, where there is no pain or suffering.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Anna Belle Root, Howard Greene, Vernon Greene, Mary Thydean, Kathy Root and Priscilla Wiley.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years Elaine; daughter Karen (Dave) Running; grandkids Katie (Ben) Mercure, Lindsey Running and Josh Running;  sister Nancy Bement.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood.
In lieu of flowers, John’s wish was that a donation be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
