Marie Patricia Heggestad Obit

MARIE PATRICIA (DEBLOCK) HEGGESTAD, 66, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with family by her side Thursday, April 17, 2025. Marie was born to James and Kathleen Deblock July 7, 1958 in Crosby. She attended St. Scholastica School of Nursing, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1982. Her passion was public health, especially children. She ended her Nursing career in 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic school in Phoenix where she was the beloved “Nurse Marie.” She met Mark and they were married soon after. They were blessed with one child, Nichole.  They spent time in Minneapolis, Sparta, NJ and finally Phoenix chasing Mark’s career. Finally, settling in Duluth in 2014 (this time chasing the grandkids) “because we are missing too much.” She spent her time from then on simply being “MeMe.” Babysitting, soccer games, basketball and sleepovers. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren. She lived her life in Christian faith, kindness and charity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, James. She is survived by her husband Mark; mother, Kathleen Deblock Johnson; daughter, Nichole (Kyle) Rock; five grandchildren; siblings, Kathy Jo, Jim, and Amy; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Services have been held.
