Jean (Bruehling) Braun Obit

JEAN (BRUEHLING) BRAUN, 79, of North Branch,  formerly of Pine Island and Ironton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti. Jean was born on May 22, 1945, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Alvin P. and Marjorie M. Bruehling. She attended Notre Dame Grade School and graduated from McDonell High School in 1963. In 1964, she moved to Rochester, MN, where she began a 30-year career at IBM. That same city would become home to her growing family after marrying Maurice W. Klingsporn in 1967. Together, they raised two children, Joseph and Deanna. After retiring from IBM in 1991, Jean embraced her love of travel, spending time in Florida, Texas, and Tucson, AZ, where she later married Keith Braun in 2002. A woman of many talents, Jean taught swimming and tennis in her younger years, sang with the Sweet Adelines in both Rochester and Crosby, the IBM Chorus, and the choir at St. Michael’s Church in Pine Island. She was a gifted cook, published two cookbooks, and was known for her incredible garden and beautiful flowers. Her time with groups like the Friday Night Friends in Crosby and the Sew and Sews brought her great joy. Jean was deeply committed to her Christian faith. She served as a religious educator, president of her church council, and was a proud member of the CCW at St. Joseph’s in Crosby and Deerwood. She was also a part of the BeFriender Ministry. Her dedication to service extended through her involvement with St. Vincent de Paul, her work as an Extraordinary Minister, and as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #443 in Ironton. Jean is survived by her children, Joseph (Shannon) Klingsporn and Deanna Boysen; her sister, Sue Shaffer; four grandchildren, Morgan (Klingsporn) McMahon, Karter Klingsporn, Mackenzie (Boysen) Pentz, and Ben Boysen; one great-grandson, Archer McMahon; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Marjorie Bruehling; siblings Nancy (Kuhn) Allen, Betty Honermann, Denis Bruehling, and John “Jack” Bruehling; husbands Maurice Klingsporn, Keith Braun; and son-in-law, Thomas Boysen. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 11660 Lansing Ave. North in Stillwater, MN, on June 8, 2025, from noon to 3 p.m. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls, WI, at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.
