Murray Barhorst obit

With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of our cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Murray Barhorst, who left us on May 25, 2025, at the age of 66. Murray was a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a tireless work ethic. Born in Melrose, MN, Murray lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and passions. A lifelong fan of NHRA racing, he found true joy in the roar of engines and the thrill of the track. He proudly supported the Minnesota Vikings and NDSU Bison football, celebrating every win and weathering every loss. His days were often filled with the sounds of classic rock and country music that reflected his love for simpler times and open roads. Murray also had a deep affection for classic cars, and nothing brought him more happiness than sharing that love with his daughters and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. To know Murray was to experience kindness, love, and resilience. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Barhorst; his daughters Patty (Andy) Fonda, Lynnette (Travis) Schuldt, and Sara Barhorst; and his treasured grandchildren, Austin and Bri Fonda. Each of them carries his spirit in their hearts. A celebration of Murray’s life will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Crosby Memorial Park on Serpent Lake in Crosby. We will forever miss his steady presence, his warm laughter, and the way his eyes lit up around family. Rest peacefully, Dad—you were our hero, and you always will be.
