Shirley Ann Borg Obit

SHRILEY ANN BORG, 68, of Ironton, passed away Nov. 12, 2025. She was born on Oct. 10, 1957, in Brainerd to Wilbert and Julia Fleishhacker. After Julia’s death, Shirley was raised by Margaret Gildart (Fuhrman). Shirley was employed at Kingwood Good Samaritan for 10 years, where she developed her love for the elderly and found time to make each person feel special. She went on to get her nursing degree and soon started work with Dr. Weidell at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, where she served for 40 years giving exceptional care to her patients and joy to her co-workers. Shirley is survived by her devoted, loving husband and fishing buddy Gordon Borg, two beautiful daughters, Melissa (Jason) Heisel, Midlothian, TX, and Turena Johnson, Baton Rouge, LA; six awesome grandchildren; Claire, Wyatt, Taylor, Miles, Mason and Jace. Shirley is also survived by her step-children Troy (Lori) Borg, Jerry (Cindy) Borg, Barb (Charlie) Cogger, April Borg and 10 step-grandchildren; a wonderful brother Wilbert (Butch) Gildart and sister Beverly (Jerry) Hines. Shirley is proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, Phil and Annie Fleishhacker, four half-siblings, Melvin, Lorraine, Clarence, Carol and sister-in-law Diane. Shirley wished to give special thanks to each and every one of you who encouraged her through her battle with cancer with cards, prayers, encouragement and love. You will never know how much your love blessed her and how much you are appreciated. Shirley wished to express “To my love Gordy, thank you for your constant love, devotion and faithfulness.” Love and Hugs, Shirley. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 at the Deerwood Auditorium. Visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service at 2 p.m. A light meal will follow.
