Robert "Bob" Lee Himmelright Obit

ROBERT "BOB" LEE HIMELRIGHT passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Deerwood. He was born to Clara (Grife) and Aaron Himmelright on April 15, 1934, in Nary, MN. He graduated from Bemidji High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was deployed with a regimental mortar company in the 3rd Marine Division to Korea shortly before the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed. He was a lumber yard manager in South Dakota and Minnesota and an instructor at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount. He had a lifelong fascination with cars and started Himmelright Auto Body in 1980 in Ironton. For fun, he raced stock cars and learned how to fly. He also loved to fish and hunt. He is survived by his wife Linda, his sister Joyce Stardig, and his children Deb Maring and Jean (Bill) Gravelle. He also had seven step-children, 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial with full military honors will be 9 a.m. on Friday, July 17, at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery in Little Falls. A Memorial Gathering will be at the Myrin-James American Legion in Ironton on Friday, July 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 2 p.m. along with the sharing of memories.
