MARLYS LEE went home to be with Jesus on Sept. 17, 2022, one month short of her 98th birthday, in her daughter’s home in Merrifield. She was born in Murdo, SD, to Frank and Maude Coleman, the first of five children. The family moved to the farm near Ruthven, IA, where Marlys attended country school and later Ruthven High School. Here she met Lawrence “Larry” Lee and during his service in the Naval Air Corp during WWII they were married. After Larry’s discharge they moved to Crosby and then on to other cities/states through the years. Over those years they had five children.

William "Bill" Ray LaBorde obit

WILLIAM RAY LaBORDE, 76, of Fairfield Township, passed peacefully in the hospital with his family by his side on Sept. 2, 2022, after sustaining an injury from a fall. Bill was born Aug. 20, 1946, in Crosby to Phyllis (Olander) and George LaBorde. He was the second eldest of eight children. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Ironton American Legion Post #443. After working for Scorpion in Crosby upon his return home from the Army, Bill worked with the Teamsters Union for 35 years in the pipeline construction division and on movie productions.

Ward Engebrit Obit

WARD ENGEBRIT, 82, of Crosby, formerly of Hopkins, died on Sept. 22, 2022 at his home.  He was born on Nov. 21, 1939 in Minneapolis to Wallace and Dorothy (Dropik) Engebrit.  Ward was the eldest of three sons, Wayne Engebrit of Florida and Ralph Engebrit (Sue) of Carver are still living.  Ward was baptized on March 17, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis and was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Lake. In 1957 Ward enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sent to San Diego for training.

Edwin John Tanquist, Jr., MD

EDWIN JOHN TANQUIST, JR., MD., was born Feb. 5, 1932 in Alexandria, third child of Edwin J. Tanquist, Sr., MD. and Olive C (Johnson) Tanquist. Ed graduated from Alexandria High School in 1950. He played Trumpet in the band and orchestra for eight years. He also played football, basketball and golf during his junior and senior year of high school, and was part of the basketball team that went to the State Tournament in 1950. After High School Ed attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, from 1950 until graduation from University of Minneosta Medical School in 1957.

SHAUNA LEEANN NYBERG passed away on Oct. 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Shauna was born July 25th, 1963 to Vada (Cole) and Russel Callison in Spokane, WA. She grew up with her five siblings Mike, Shannon, Shane, Sam, and Johnny. In 1968 Shauna and her family moved to Verndale. She spent many days riding horses with her childhood best friend, Roxanne and her sister Shannon. She enjoyed spending time at the lake and tubing down the river during the summer months.
