Deerwood Summerfest offers fun for everyone!

If you’re looking for two days of great food, arts and craft shopping, live music, games, demonstrations and other fun family activities, the Annual Summerfest Celebration Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14, in Deerwood is just the family-friendly celebration. Events fill the streets of Deerwood on Friday and Saturday. Festivities get under way each morning, with crafters lining the streets of the city offering their creations.

Story Hour returns to Hallett Library

Join the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library for the kick-off of the 2021 Preschool Story Hour season with Roxy Humphrey, local author the children’s book ‘What Are You Going To Do With That Booger?’ on Wednesday, Aug. 4 Humphrey will be selling and signing books after the program. Story Hour will be every Wednesday at 10:30  a.m. at the library located at 101 First Street SE in Crosby.

Crow Wing County Fair was once held in Crosby

The first “Annual Fair” was held in Brainerd on Saturday, Oct. 5, 1872. Fairs in Crow Wing County were then held sporadically in Brainerd, Pequot Lakes and Crosby before being organized and permanently located in Brainerd in 1937. The 1899 fair was held at grounds owned by M. K. Swartz located just east of the 1900 block on East Oak Street, In 1938 the fair was held at the Brainerd Armory and beginning in 1939 at the Mill Avenue fairgrounds where it was held each year until moving to its present location at 2000 South 13th Street in 1962.

Bicycle Committee forming in Crosby

The city of Crosby is interested in receiving letters of interest from people who would like to be involved in an ad hoc committee to improve safety and cyclist signage within the community. This group will be appointed by the elected officials and are responsible for providing input to decision-makers on bicycle projects and policies. The committee will consist of up to seven people, plus the city council, for a total of 12 members.

Crow Wing County Fair Aug. 3-7

The Crow Wing County Fair is slated for Aug. 3-7 at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds located at 2000 SE 13th Street in Brainerd. Enjoy the entertainment, photo gallery, midway rides, Grandstand, Animals, exhibits and people, food and more. The Crow Wing County Fair is open to all exhibitors who reside in the State of Minnesota. In 4-H Club Division, exhibitors must reside in Crow Wing County except those who live outside the county but are affiliated with the Crow Wing County Federation. Grandstand events are:

Crosby 4th of July Parade

Plan now for a spectacular Fourth of July in Crosby. The parade starts at noon on Sunday, July 4. The route will start in Ironton and follow Highway 210 to the east through downtown Crosby despite Highway 210 Road Construction. Fun in the park all day (beer tent, food vendors, live music and more) then a spectacular fireworks display at dusk over Serpent Lake.
