JOHN "BUTCH" MARSH passed away on Feb. 22, 2023. A graveside memorial will be held at Crosby’s Lakewood Cemetery on Friday, June 2 at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and share memories and stories of Butch. All are welcome to attend and share food at Crosby Memorial Park on Serpent Lake in Crosby following the time at Lakewood Cemetery.

Charles 'Chuck' Arthur Hagberg Obit

CHARLES "CHUCK" ARTHUR HAGBERG, 92, of Perry Lake Township, died at his home on May 24, 2023.  He was born on Oct. 14, 1930 in Ironton to Harry and Esther (Gilbert) Hagberg.  Chuck married Joan Louise Seely on Oct. 21, 1950 in Crosby.   He was a retired Civil and Safety Engineer with the State of Wisconsin, Minnesota and other states and  was a private advisor.  He was a well-known local saxophonist with the Johnson Chicks (Three Chicks and a Chuck). He and his fellow musicians could be found entertaining the residents of many local assisted living and retirement facilities.

HARRY ALLEN SHARP, known to all as Bud, passed away May 27, 2023. He was 89 years old. He was an extraordinary storyteller, a joke lover, a man that loved to laugh and to share with others what he saw as the best things in life. He looked after and worried about his family, both immediate and extended, something that he started at age 15 when his father passed. He quit school and went to work to support the family. He never quit working for the family, even in his later years and was the guy you counted on to fix things around your place.

RETIRED COLONEL JOSEPH JAMES "JIM" BLAZINA, 93, of Los Gatos, CA, died peacefully of natural causes surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 25, 2023. He was born Oct. 14, 1929 in Duluth to Joseph James (“Joe”) Blazina and Anna Jennie Blazina (nee Kellerman). Jim attended Aitkin High School where he enlisted as a Private in the Minnesota State Guard. During his senior year in college, his Division was activated and Jim entered active service in the Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Tank Corps. His first post took him to Trieste, Italy, where he met Toni, the love of his life.

MARY LOU MIRAU, 93, of Crosby, died at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby on April 8, 2023.  She was born on May 5, 1929 in Crosby to Louis and Isabel (Brown) Raymond.  She was a retired Clerk for the city of Deerwood.  She played organ for several area churches.  She attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Robert; son, James Mirau; brother, Joe Raymond and a grandson.

John Bernard Johnson Obit

JOHN BERNARD JOHNSON, 82, of Crosby died on Oct. 20, 2022 at his home.   He was born in Crosby on July 15, 1940 to Arthur B. and Helen (Krans) Johnson.  John graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1958, where he was a member of the Crosby-Ironton basketball team.  He served in the U.S. Navy.  He entered at the Great Lakes Trainer Center, receiving a medical discharge in September of 1958.  He spent most of his life in construction, and was a member of the 49er’s Union until his retirement.

Vilma Gloria Gorfin Obit

VILMA GLORIA GORFIN, 95, of Crosby, died on May 19, 2023 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  She was born on May 28, 1927 in Ironton to Marko and Mary Krmpotich.  Vilma married William “Don” Gorfin on Oct. 8, 1948 in Webster, SD.  Don and Vilma moved many times from the West Coast to Crosby.  They found their peace on Serpent Lake on Peterson Creek Drive.   Preceding Vilma in death are her parents; husband Don and sister Goldie Harthun. Vilma is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Krumrei of Las Vegas, NV.

Burt 'Burturde' Leslie Tasche Obit

BURT 'BURTURDE LESLIE TASCHE, 59, died in November due to health complications. He lived in Minnesota his whole life, born in Watertown  to Patricia and Roy Tasche and father of two daughters in Brainerd where he spent the remainder of his life. He was formally educated in horticulture with a focus on landscape design and architecture. He dedicated his life to his craft and touched many people along the way, even going as far as to inspire one of his daughters to go into horticulture as well.

MARK ANTHONY VUKELICH, 60, died surrounded by loved ones in Waco, TX on Jan. 26, 2023. He was loved by family and friends for his wit and knowledge, his unending patience and listening, his stories and laughs and his supportiveness of everyone around him. He is survived by his sons, Robert and Steven; his father and step-mother, George “Sonny” and Susie; his sisters, Mary ”Sunny Jo” and Sarajean and step-siblings, Bill, Brian and Tanya. A Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m.

Robert "Bob" Rodenborn Obit

ROBERT "BOB" RODENBORN left this world suddenly on Monday, May 15, 2023 at age 81. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born to Dolores and Richard Rodenborn on Jan. 30, 1942. Bob was drafted into the army where he was a Paratrooper in many places amongst the U.S. Bob met the love of his life, Renee, across the street from him. Bob and Renee married on Sept. 10, 1966 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. They lived in Brooklyn Park until 1999. They also owned a second home in Aitkin and retired there.
