DOUGLAS DAVID MINGUS, 91, of Deerwood, joined his wife in his eternal home on Feb. 9, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on Feb. 9, 1929 in Oakland, CA to Scott and Bessie (Dougal) Mingus.  Doug grew up in Cromwell.  Doug married Betty Lou Bryant on Dec. 31, 1949 in Duluth.  He was employed as a bricklayer and a college administrator.  He graduated from St. Thomas College in St. Paul with a degree in History and the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, with a Masters in College Business Management.

FLORENCE IRENE LUBOVICH, 91, of Aitkin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 in Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin.  She was born Sept. 25, 1928 in Bennettville to George and Celia (Griffith) Ferguson.  Florence graduated from Aitkin High School and was united in marriage to Joseph Lubovich.  
Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; step-mother, Margaret (Phillips) Voltz; sister, Margaret Swanson; four step-brothers and three step-sisters.

DANIEL ALAN STIREWALT, 58,  of Crosby, died on Dec.19, 2019 at his home.
He was born on May 15, 1961 in Silver Creek, NY to Clarence “Jim” and Betty (Christensen) Stirewalt.
Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, Steven and Sammy Stirewalt.

GERTRUDE FRANCES FISH,  93, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born Sept. 8, 1926 to Bartek and Mathilda (Gonsior) Baldy in Donnelly,  and grew up on a farm outside of Delano.  She completed high school in Delano and attended St. Cloud State Teachers’ College where she completed teaching certification in elementary education. She taught in the school districts of St. Cloud, Atwater, Kimball, St. Louis Park, Crosby, and Madera, CA.

LYLE JOSEPH CHRISTENSEN, 65, of Crosby, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, died on Jan. 28, 2020 at the Little Falls Care Center. He was born on Aug. 8, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD to Harry and Theresa (Siemonsma) Christensen.  
Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Loren Christensen.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Olivia Christensen of Deerwood; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Gordon Griffith of Lake St. Louis, MO and Linda Christensen of Sioux Falls, SD and many nieces and nephews.

NANCY W. DARSNEK, 76, Brooklyn Center, formerly of Aitkin, died on Jan. 26, 2020 at the Maranatha Care Center in Brooklyn Center.  She was born on Oct. 1, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Susan (Novak) Wozniarski.  Nancy married William Darsnek in Sisseton, SD on Nov. 15, 1971.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, William in 2011 and one sister, Doris Loster.

PHYLLIS E. FLANNIGAN, 89, of Crosby, died on Jan. 28, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on Feb. 8, 1930 in Alberta to Charles and Bertina (Larson) Tomoson.  She was a retired employee of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby with 22 years of service.  She was a member of the Crosby Assembly of God Church, an auxiliary member of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557 of Deerwood, serving as Chaplain for several years.  For many years she played the role as Mrs. Santa for the area.

LAWRENCE "LARRY" ROGER LEGER, SR. died. Everyone who knew Larry would say he was the hardest worker they ever knew. Larry served nine years in the National Guard and was extremely proud to serve his country. He was kind, caring, and would give more than he would ever take. He loved fishing, gardening, being outdoors, and cracking jokes. Everyone around him was constantly smiling or laughing. His life revolved around his children, that is until his grandbabies came around and stole his heart, he was a very, very proud papa. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.
