DOROTHY RHODES, 93, of Crosby, died on Nov. 15, 2022 at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. A service is being planned for summer of 2023.  Full obit will follow.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

SALLY JOANNE MATHEWSON, 67, of Motley, died Nov. 17, 2022 while skydiving. She was born May 11, 1955 in Illinois to John and Ruth (Button) Smrt. Sally married Scott Mathewson Aug. 22, 2002. Sally enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, cooking, sewing, bow hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, and going to coffee at the Stomping Grounds in Staples. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Smrt and three brothers Jerry, Tom, and John Smrt.

LORNE DALE BRAGER, 87, of Baxter, died on Nov. 9, 2022 at the Lakewood Health Care System in Staples.  He was born on March 13, 1935 in Deerwood Township to Christian and Aurora (Olson) Brager. Lorne married Betty Lundgren on June 11, 1955 in Crosby.  He was a retired employee of West Publishing in St. Paul with 40 years of service. Preceding Lorne in death are his parents; two brothers, Bud and Jim Brager; one great-grandson, Beck Ballew.

ROXANNE LEE McGILLIS, 57, passed away in Aitkin, on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022.  “Beautiful, inside and out” is something people say in an offhand manner, but in Roxanne’s case it was completely and absolutely true. Roxie, as she was known to her family and friends, is a rare soul, so full of love and compassion. We will dearly miss her infectious laugh, her gorgeous smile, her playfulness, and most of all, her loving nature. Born on Nov. 11, 1965, Roxie was raised in Aitkin by her mother, Linda McGillis and her step-father, Jack McGillis.

ARLYS JEAN WANSTROM, 81, of Aitkin,  passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at Aitkin Health Services.  She was born Nov. 27, 1940 in Wheaton to Edwin and Alpha (Kreuger) Fromm.  She graduated from Gibbon High School and earned her Masters Degree from Mankato State University.  Arlys was united in marriage to Oliver DeMar Wanstrom on May 25, 1962 in Gibbon.  She was a teacher and then counselor at St. Francis Public Schools prior to retirement.  During her career as a teacher she worked in Litchfield, Silver Bay, Osseo and St. Francis.

SHARON RAE SKONE, 78, passed away peacefully in Ocala, FL on Oct. 21, 2022. Sharon was born to Dr. Allen Reuben and Elsie Julia Anderson on Oct. 21, 1944 in Belleville, IL. Sharon grew up in Crosby and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1962, then attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota. She married her high school sweetheart, James Brian Skone of Deerwood and celebrated 51 years of marriage. Sharon was a gifted artist and pursued many creative interests in her life. She was happiest when creating works of art for loved ones.

David W. Hicks Obit

DAVID W. HICKS, 84, of Ironton, died at his home on Nov. 6, 2022.  He was born on March 31, 1938 in St. Paul to Gordon and Marguerite (Rathbone) Hicks.  He was a retired owner of a Auto Service Center  in St. Louis Park and a retired realtor with North County Realty in Crosby.  He was also a former school bus driver for the Crosby-Ironton Transportation.  He served as a  mayor and council person for the City of Ironton. Preceding him in death are his parents; one daughter, Cindy Butts and one brother, Gordon Hicks.

Carl William Schellin Obit

CARL WILLIAM SCHELLIN,  73, of Rabbit Lake Township, died at the St. Cloud Hospital on Nov. 8, 2022.  He was born on April 3, 1949 in Hettinger, ND to Carl and Hanna (Nilson) Schellin.  Carl moved to  Minnesota at a young age.  He grew up outside  Aitkin and graduated from the Aitkin High School.  He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Carl married JoAnn Nordquist on Aug. 24, 1974 in Lindstrom.  He was employed with Scorpion Snowmobiles and Graphic Packaging in Crosby.   Carl loved to hunt and fish.
