MICHAEL GIRARD ROGERS, loving partner to Jillaina Wachendorf, devoted father to Dustin Rogers, Douglas Rogers, and Jeanné (Dan) Weihrauch and his cherished granddaughter Sydney Weihrauch, passed away in his Monument, CO, home on Dec. 17, 2022 at age 66 after an extended battle with cancer.   Mike was a man of many talents. His diverse interests, determination to succeed, and fearless spirit led him to a life filled with out-of-the -ordinary experiences such as at age 18, hitchhiking to Canada to homestead in the wilderness and surviving a face to face encounter with a grizzly bear!

John "Jack" William Dryer Obit

JOHN  'JACK'  WILLIAM DRYER of Bloomington died  on Friday Dec. 30, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born in Minneapolis and graduated from North High in Minneapolis, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball and track. He graduated from the University of Minnesota where he ran on the Gopher track team. He was a proud member of the M Club and was inducted into the U of M Hall of Fame. After enlisting in the Navy and serving in Korea, he became a beloved teacher and coach in the Bloomington School system for 30 years. He was a great ambassador of personal fitness and healthy living.

TEDDY A. FLETCHER, 71, of Banner County, NE died Dec. 30, 2022 at his home. He was born March 6, 1951 in Crosby to Virl and Phylis Fletcher. He made his home with his life-long partner Sandy Dalton in Banner County, NE. He taught his family and children to be hard working and loved his family dearly. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and helping anyone that needed it. He loved children dearly as he drove bus for Head Start for 10 years and worked for Marva in the classroom.

GLENN E. MECHELKEe, 99, of Crosby, formerly of Outing, died at Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby.  He was born on March 5, 1923 in St. Paul to Edward and Alice (Mogren) Mechelke. For many years Glenn was the owner and operator of Birch Bay Lodge and Campground in Outing.  He gave 50+ years of service as clerk for Crooked Lake Township.  Glenn was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Outing. Preceding Glenn in death are his parents, Edward and Alice Mechelke; his wife, Pat and a daughter, Barbara Carstens.

CHLOE POISSANT, 14, died suddenly on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023 at her home in St. Cloud. She was born June 21, 2008 in St. Cloud to Anthony Engels and Kristi Poissant.  She was an 8th grade student at Cathedral High School where she was active in softball.  Chloe liked to try new things, including karate, gymnastics and dance.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandpa fishing and hunting.  She loved to draw and was very artistic.  She was active in her church youth group “Ignite” and enjoyed going on mission trips.

THERESA JOY (NAPP) PROADEK, 68, of Deerwood, passed away on Dec. 30, 2022 at her home. She was born on Jan. 8, 1954, in Owatonna to Herbert and Elsie (Dutton) Napp. She was married to Robert Poradek on Jan. 15, 1994 in Onamia. She loved the outdoors, fishing, card games especially cribbage and board games. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A private family service will be held on Jan. 14 followed by a Celebration of Life for friends and family to attend at the Garrison VFW Pavilion (27234 Monroe Street, Garrison, Minnesota 56450) on Jan. 15 at 1 p.m.

BENEDICT "BENNIE" TRUTWIN, 88, of Fifty Lakes, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022. He was born to Nicholas and Elizabeth Trutwin on Aug. 20, 1934, in Holdingford. In his early days, Bennie was a wheelsman on the Great Lakes for seven years, served in the Army Reserves, operated a Phillip’s gas station, and worked at Gold Metal Flour in Minneapolis. He was a highly respected and well-known appliance repairman in St Paul for most of his career.  He built a cabin in Voyager Village, WI, where he spent many years sharing the up-north experience with family and friends.

HAROLD "HAL" BORSHEIM, 92, of Aitkin,   formerly of Wheaton,  died  Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at Rivers Edge Assisted Living in Aitkin. He was born in Manitoba, Canada, on Sept.  15, 1930 to parents Eilert and Ellen (Riordan) Borsheim. He was the second youngest of ten children. His parents had a farm near Spirling, Manitoba and another in Wheaton where the family settled full-time. He attended school in Wheaton and college at Morris Ag. School. He was in the boxing club while attending Morris. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Mary Arens. The two met in 4-H.

Robert "Bob" Carls Obit

ROBERT "BOB" CARLS, 82, Bay Lake, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Dec. 26, 2022. He was born July 3, 1940 to Robert A. and Ruth (Bundgaard) Carls in Minneapolis. A graduate of  Southwest High School in Minneapolis, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the University of Oregon at Eugene. He was a full-time artisan working primarily in turned wood, and since 2000 he and his wife owned and operated Ripple River Gallery.
